recycle[03] - it's early days in moscow for sustainability issues as you can see, but good things come from humble beginnings etc etc. My real motivation for this post is joining in the 'blog action day 09' thing and redirecting anyone who hasn't already seen it to a battery-less future? a great TED talk by Eric Giler earlier this year - enjoy.

mobile vendor[03] - your shop is only as good as the car you rest against. blankets, sheep skin vests, slippers and fruit with a backdrop of honda - brand association / partnering is still in it's infancy in russia

mobile*rejuvenation - a pop-up shrine in downtown moscow helps raise the spirits [non-vodka] for passers by. religious icons were ubiquitous in homes right across russia; opulence and religion continue to have sound roots.

retail*therapy - russia has a reputation for being 'cold', i'm sure 'faceless shopping' like this goes a little way towards it. purchasing through a letter box is commonplace in the roadside 'tabaks' as well as for these underground retailers; it may have it's advantages against the cold [or crime] but it completely dehumanizes the social aspect of trading which has existed for centuries...although that's not to say there is no place for anonymous purchasing...
sales assistance - fashion shopping requires a little more interaction than buying the staples at the bus stop [fags, beers and instant coffee] but at least the packs are perfectly envelope sized!
fashion - on the street...i don't think he's being ironic though 「ハハ」
awesome*designer - i'm back in moscow again and looking out of the window reflecting on the city. my river-view is in fact of a car park but it got me thinking about what i really liked about moscow and this guy is it. it's a pretentious bar to the extreme but there's something about drinking ruski standard vodka while sitting on a flushable toilet that just makes it well...memorable

project[03] - arriving back in style at our hotel [wolga style] possibly the worlds least glamorous car. one of my paparazzi snaps for the "a million little pictures: documentary" last month - twenty four pictures in twenty four days.
